I just realized that I haven't posted any pictures of where I'm staying while I'm here, it's actually a pretty interesting building and we have some great views up on the 10th floor! Our building actually has a pretty wide age range since it's not specifically university housing, so we have families next door as well as college students. Everything is pretty close within walking distance; campus, grocery stores, and the better part of downtown Auckland are all 5-15 minutes away.

Last night they had some fireworks down by the harbor for Auckland Anniversary day, and even though we couldn't make it there to see them, we had a great view from our room!
Yesterday we went on a kayaking trip out by Mission Bay, arranged by our housing building. Originally we were supposed to kayak out to Rangitoto island, but since it was pretty windy we stayed mostly in the harbor. We kayaked for about 3 hours, and I'm definitely feeling it today! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it yet, but one of my friends has a waterproof camera she brought along so I'll steal some pictures later and post them up :)
Cheers!
P.S. I've been hearing a certain song over here a lot that I love, and I finally figured out who sings it! It's by a band/man called Avalanche City, who's from New Zealand. The album is actually free to download here. It's a little folky and sometimes sounds like Death Cab for Cutie; I highly suggest it! I'm listening to it now :)
Looks absolutely beautiful, Tessa. Thanks for blogging. It's nice to hear what you are up to. This winter has been absolutely awful, with snowstorm after snowstorm. I can read your blog and be there vicariously:)
